ANALISIS KETERCAPAIAN KOMPETENSI PENGETAHUAN SISWA SDN 31 KARYA BARU MELALUI PEMBELAJARAN PREDICT, OBSERVE, EXPLAIN

Knowledge-based competencies are one of the key indicators in IPAS learning. However, helping students achieve knowledge-based competencies in the topic of changes in matter remains a challenge, necessitating a learning model that supports the development of a meaningful conceptual understanding. This study aims to analyze students’ achievement of knowledge competencies after participating in instruction using the Predict-Observe-Explain (POE) model. The study employed a quantitative descriptive approach with a sample of 11 third-grade students at SDN 31 Karya Baru, Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan. Data were collected through tests and documentation. The research instrument consisted of a multiple-choice test with 20 items administered before (pretest) and after (posttest) instruction. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including mean scores, standard deviation, and individual and class mastery rates, with a minimum mastery criterion of 75. The research results show that students’ average knowledge competence increased from 72.27 on the pretest to 83.09 on the posttest. The classical mastery rate also increased from 54.55% to 90.91%, with 10 out of 11 students achieving learning mastery. Based on the research results, students’ knowledge competency on changes in matter was deemed to have been achieved at a classical level after participating in instruction using the Predict-Observe-Explain (POE) model.
